District 6 Fall Conference
WHEN: October 31–Nov 1, 2014
WHAT: The 2014 Fall Conference will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday and Saturday, October 31 & Nov 1. Winners of the 10 Division contests will compete in the Table Topics and Humorous speech contests. Join us on Friday night at the dinner buffet, followed by the Table Topics contest. After the contest the fun night begins with a costume contest and themed party! Come dressed in your favorite Halloween Costume attire! On Saturday, you won’t want to miss our DTM breakfast program. Afterwards, attend the Fall Business meeting, followed by lunch, where Past District 6 Governor Sharon Rollefson will be roasted. After lunch you can attend any of the excellent educational sessions. Finally, it is time for us to “Fall into fall” at the evening Gala and Humorous speech contest. Now that we have your attention, you can have all of this for one great deal of $120.00 for everything (not including room).

1. Friday night is fun night. Dress for fun and dress for the theme. Come in your favorite Halloween costume!
2. Dress for Saturday is Business casual. Saturday night is formal dress night.
3. Remember to bring club banner for Saturday morning. You will receive resource center vouchers for participation in the parade of banners.
4. Remind your club members to bring silent auction items, their voting proxies, and their speech books to get speech credit if competing or presenting.
5. Volunteer to help at registration, silent auction, or credentials tables.
SPECIAL GUEST FROM TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL:
First Vice President Candidate, Mike Storkey, DTM
Mike Storkey, of Townsville, Queensland, Australia, is a business trainer and coach at Storkeys’ Team, a business he cofounded in 2005. He helps small business owners develop strategic business plans and trains members of local government bodies throughout the Queensland region. He also hosts seminars in change management, team building and leadership for Queensland regional councils. He is a licensed auctioneer and real estate agent and holds a Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment.
A dedicated Toastmaster for 23 years, Storkey has been a member of his home club, Whitsunday, in Cannonvale, since 1990. He served on the Toastmasters Board of Directors from 2010 to 2012, and has held a number of high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters. Storkey has also attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation—the highest level of educational achievement in the organization.
He says, “The skills I developed in Toastmasters—from helping others, working as a team and developing a vision in order to reach a common goal—have made me better-equipped to tackle leadership opportunities both in my private and professional life.”
