New Club Sponsor or New Club Mentor

Position Description

Club sponsors and mentors are experienced Toastmasters who assist new clubs. Serving as a successful new club sponsor or mentor counts toward completion of your Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

Club Sponsor: A sponsor works with a club from the initial demonstration meeting until the club charters. The club sponsor ensures a smooth transition when the club is turned over to club mentors. Some responsibilities of a club sponsor include (but are not limited to) helping to market the new club to prospective members, providing guidance to the club on club meeting roles and protocols, attending and participating in the club’s meetings, and assisting the club complete their charter paperwork.

Club Mentor: A club mentor supports a new club during the first six to 12 months (after being chartered). Some responsibilities of a club mentor include (but are not limited to) presenting speeches from the Successful Club series, attending and participating in the club’s meetings, ensuring that new officers attend district lead officer training, and assisting the club with meeting roles and protocols to ensure the club has a quality club experience.

Position Requirements

  • Be a paid member in good standing with Toastmasters International.
